The bold and the beautiful

It has been a pretty gray and chilly spring here in central Pennsylvania. So, it's not surprising that we're resorting to bright colors and bold patterns to lift our spirits. These coats caught my eye this week.

Joanne picked up this charming peplum jacket at Clothes Mentor for a mere $20.00!

It's as though it was tailor-made just for her and the turquoise color is stunning with her blonde hair and fair skin.

Laura got her stylish trench coat at Kohl's. She didn't get it on sale, but it makes this post because of it's awesome color, which happens to be a perfect match for Laura's skin tone. Just look how it brings out the color in her face.

(As an aside, we debated over the color of this coat. Is it coral, salmon, paprika? I say it's persimmon, the color of a sweet Asian fruit. What do you think?)

Stephanie wins the prize for best bargain. She snagged this chic houndstooth jacket for only $5.00 from an end-of-season clearance rack at Sears. Houndstooth, which originated in Scotland, is a jagged check pattern that gets its name from the jagged back teeth of a hound dog. The black and white checks work well with Stephanie's dark hair, big silver hoops, and black peep-toe sandals.

What do you wear to lift your spirits?
