Two different outifts; one pair of tights

In a previous post, Experimenting with style, I mentioned that I am often inspired by "...colorful tights, bold accessories, or funky shoes". Well, here's an example of just that.

This fall, some orange tights caught my eye at Target, so I bought them without knowing what I would wear with them. Here are two outfits I came up with using clothes I already had in my closet.

For this outfit, I used the tights to add a contrasting pop of color to this green and brown combo. To tie the top and bottom of the outfit together, I added a clay heart necklace hand made by my daughter.
Delia's cardigan: $4.99 (Plato's Closet)
Brown tee shirt: $6.99 (Strawberry)
American Eagle Outfitters wool skirt: $4.99 (Goodwill)
Aeropostale flats: $9.99 (Plato's Closet)
Necklace: Free
For this outfit, I did the opposite. Instead of using the tights as a contrasting focal point, I used them to complement a matching cardigan and a polka dot tee shirt. Because I chose a gray skirt, I went with black boots. To tie it all together, I added a black leather cord necklace with a silver pendant that I picked up at a yard sale last summer.
Mossimo cardigan: $19.99 (Target)
Aeropostale tee shirt: $3.99 (Goodwill)
Express skirt: $ 4.99 (Goodwill)
Black boots: $19.99 (The Shoe Department)
Lia Sophia necklace: $2.00 (yard sale)
Do you like to wear contrasting or complementary colors?
